DAILY REMINDER THAT IT’S OKAY TO HATE THE PEOPLE WHO’VE TREATED YOU BADLY AND IT DOESN’T MAKE YOU A BAD PERSON
I cannot recommend hate; to hate someone is to be controlled by the very thought of that person! Hate makes us slaves to our own emotions; it hinders tranquility of mind and soul. Consider this: those who treat you badly are already in that trap—they are slaves to negative emotions, so why would you want to be like them? Pity them, rather, for being so messed up that they cannot live at peace with those around them.

Damocles was a courtier of Dionysius, tyrant of Syracuse; Damocles made the remark one day that he wished he were as fortunate as the ruler. Dionysius granted this wish, making Damocles king for a day—but above his throne, a sword was suspended by a single hair from a horse’s tail. In this way, Damocles learned that to be a ruler meant living with the constant fear of imminent death, as well as all the perks and pleasures of power. Needless to say, Damocles did not have as much fun as he thought he would.
Oh dear God, that’s Veronica Lake…is this from I Married A Witch with Fredric March and Robert Benchley? And WHY isn’t this movie available on DVD yet?!?!?!?
Really nice shot of Ingrid Pitt as “Carla” opposite John Pertwee as “Paul Henderson” from the Amicus production The House That Dripped Blood (1971). The different segments featured in this portmanteau film were based on short stories by the American writer who is perhaps best known as the author of Psycho, Robert Bloch. Thanks for posting this.
One of Pertwee’s finest performances!!!
Euclid’s first common notion is this: Things which are equal to the same things are equal to each other. That’s a rule of mathematical reasoning and its true because it works - has done and always will do. In his book Euclid says this is self evident. You see there it is even in that 2000 year old book of mechanical law it is the self evident truth that things which are equal to the same things are equal to each other.
Yes, indeedy—Lincoln knew Euclid, he read ALL SIX BOOKS!

“It must be understood that neither by word nor deed had I given Fortunato cause to doubt my good will. I continued, as was my in to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my to smile now was at the thought of his immolation.”
from The Cask of Amontillado by Edgar Allan Poe
I can never get enough of this story.
It’s my favorite, too…
